Remote Wilderness:

Kitich Forest Camp is situated in a pristine forest glade on the upper slopes of the Mathews Mountains, often referred to as a 'biological bonanza' due to its rich biodiversity.

The camp is surrounded by lush mountain forests and overlooks the seasonal Ngeng River, providing stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere.

During the day the bird-song from species such as the xxx and xxx fill the forest air.

At night, a carcophany of Elephant rumbles, trumpets and forest insects will lull you to sleep.

Access:

Guests can reach the camp via daily flights from Nairobi to Kalama or Sassab Airstrip, followed by a 2.5-hour drive.

Alternatively, it can be accessed by a scenic eight-hour drive from Nairobi.

The route is clearly sign-posted, so there’s little chance of getting lost.

Accomodation

Tents:

The camp features six en-suite tents (three doubles and three twins), each designed to blend with the natural surroundings.

Tents are equipped with basic amenities including bucket showers and flush toilets, and they offer views of the Ngeng Valley.

Shared Facilities:

There is a communal area made of wood and thatch that includes a bar and dining space, decorated with durable furniture and local artifacts.

Conservation Focus:

The camp is committed to environmental sustainability and supports local conservation efforts.

It has received recognition for its eco-friendly practices, including reliance on solar power.

Activities

Nature Exploration:

Kitich Forest Camp offers various walking and hiking experiences, guided by knowledgeable Samburu warriors.

Guests can engage in activities such as bush walks, bird watching, swimming in natural rock pools, and cultural interactions with local communities.

Dining Experience

Cuisine:

Meals at Kitich Forest Camp feature Italian and Eastern Mediterranean influences, complemented by excellent wine selections.

The camp prides itself on farm-to-table dining, using fresh ingredients sourced locally.

Drinks

There are all your usual alchoholic, and non-alchoholic drinks available.

Spirits are an extra expense, and not included in the booking fee.

My Opinion

I visited for 3 nights with my girlfriend, and we fell deeply in love with the place, and each other. If you want to unwind, rekindle connection, and get re-inspired then you should go to Kitich.
